Best of 2009
January 5, 2010
As I sit here and type this I’m left to think about what my life and career have been like for the past year. Changes. Sounds very cliche but the word rings true after the closure of the Rocky Mountain News in late February. Certainly good and bad, but mostly good. Make that great in fact. I’ve been thankful that I can be allowed to keep doing what I love by communicating with my camera. Looking at some of the images I’m about to post I can’t help but see how my style and my storytelling has evolved over the past year. Rather than thinking about the impending tax season ahead I find myself quite excited this time of year to see where I’ll be taken with this career and how I can improve myself. Personal projects have been the core of what I am creating this year and I hope to extend that into the new year as I form more fruitful and meaningful relationships with my subjects. Thank you all so much for staying with me this year as I post a visual diary from my life. Cheers.

Movember
December 10, 2009
Movember is described as a mustache growing charity event held in the month of November each year to raise awareness for men’s health. Having a bit of a personal connection to the cause I decided to volunteer my photographic skills last weekend at the Rackhouse Pub in Denver. Beard and mustache trimming at a bar. Sure. Try doing that in July and you might get a couple of looks. Fun event great cause. Have a look at www.movember.com to see for yourself.

Colorado State Cyclocross
December 7, 2009
That’s all for Colorado’s cyclocross season for 2009. One more post before I move onto another part of the Colorado Cycling Culture project. Bet you’re glad, right? So cold,so very cold it was on Saturday in Arvada. Not cold enough apparently to stop these amazing men and women from riding their bikes. Thanks for having me everyone. Cheers.

Where’s the crowd?
November 30, 2009
This was a question I asked myself yesterday at the RRV Cyclocross series in Golden,Colorado yesterday. I headed out yesterday morning with one goal in mind. Make no pictures with people riding bikes. I wanted to get down to the supporters and character of the sport. Turns out it was very slim pickings. Oh well. Next week’s state championships could provide more character. Here are a few from yesterday. Enjoy.

Friends
November 23, 2009
I had a chance to spend some time with friends of ours Ben and Leslie this past weekend to make some images of them with their 1 year-old son Miller. It’s so much fun to document a family as they grow and change over the years. Cheers.

The Blue Sky Velo Cup was a ghoulishly good time this weekend. Mud,mud, and more mud made for some exciting and colorful moments. Here are a few from my take.
